The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, Inc. (SCAN) is a non- profit arts organization from Western Connecticut. Our goal is to support artists and promote the visual arts. For more than half a century SCAN members, (artists of all skill levels and art enthusiasts) have been sharing their knowledge.

Each month we publish SCAN INK, a newsletter for our members, which provides complete details about our programs.

On Tuesday October 13, 2026, at 7:30pm, Lenny Moskowitz will demonstrate how Monet used color in oil. This event will be at The Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street in Newtown, CT. All are welcome and admission is free.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 1:30pm, Wende Caporale-Greene will be doing a demonstration for SCAN. She is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America where she has won numerous awards. Ms. Caporale-Greene has been teaching portraiture since 1994 through weekly classes and multiple day workshops during which she demonstrates her method in oil and pastel. This event will be at The Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street in Newtown, CT. All are welcome and admission is free.
